School Psychologist
Northland Learning Center
Hi! I’m Maggie West-Johnson, and I’ve been a school psychologist with the Northland Learning Center since August 2019. I grew up in International Falls, MN, where winter is both a season and a personality trait, and took my first academic steps close to home, earning my Associate of Arts degree at Rainy River Community College.
I went on to complete my Bachelor of Applied Science in Psychology at the University of Minnesota Duluth. From there, I earned both my Master’s of Science (MS) and Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) degrees in School Psychology from Minnesota State University, Mankato.
I love working with students, families, and school teams to problem-solve and create individualized plans that support academic, behavioral, and mental health growth. No two students are the same, and helping each one find success makes this work deeply rewarding.
Outside of school, I stay busy with my Iron Range-raised husband, our two wonderful children, and a Springer Spaniel who’s still convinced she’s still the only child born to two millennials. We love spending time outdoors, whether it’s at Rainy Lake, at local parks, or the hunting shack near Two Harbors. When we’re not outside, we’re likely watching movies or making “just a quick stop” at Costco (which somehow always requires a cart).
